Descended from the line of Gruminor, that venerable elven hero, the dwarves of the Southlands inhabit the mountains of the South-West, building mighty fortresses, and mining the depths for precious stones and metals. Cursed not to be able to wield magic, the dwarves have become expert rune-smiths, and are also the only ones to have discovered the secrets of spark-powder, which younger, more innovative dwarves use to great effect on the battlefield.
